Thousands of elves descend on Weymouth Town Centre as it celebrates the start of Christmas with the south west’s LARGEST Elf Street Party. Now in its 3rd year, Weymouth has been going elf mad with elf record attempts, elf light illuminations, elf workshops, elf letter writing, elf club nights and much, much more!

This year the Elf Street Party is set to be bigger and better than ever before, with an Elf parade starting at 11:30 (meet up at 11am) complete with marching band, Father Christmas, Elf dancing troupes, stilt walkers and elf workshops throughout the town.

This elf extravaganza will conclude in New Bond Street with live music, performances, mulled wine, letter writing workshops, and the fantastic Christmas tree and Christmas elf light switch on by the mayor, the primary times winner, Thomas and the panto cast. The evening entertainment begins around the tree with local legends the Leggomen head-lining to kick off the Christmas season.

Local businesses are joining in the Christmas spirit by not only dressing up as elves but over 25 of them are turning their shopfronts into a winter wonderland. It’s the perfect time to explore Weymouth and get a head start on Christmas shopping.  For those looking to continue the party, Weymouth’s famous night club The Closet is once again holding its Elf Night – elf dress is essential and new bar the Merry Motel is opening for the first time to welcome mischievous elves out of the cold.

Dawn Rondeau, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth comments: “We’ve been elf mad in Weymouth for 3 years now and people travel from near and far to join in with our celebrations.  Our local businesses dress up as elves, our night-time economy really gets into the spirit of things with elf nights and elf bands, Cineworld screens movies like ‘Elf’ or ‘Arthur Christmas’ and there are elves everywhere you look!  We’ve had national TV shows come and film with us and the big man himself – Father Christmas is always present – it’s a really special day and it’s definitely the biggest gathering of elves in the southwest, if not the UK!”
