Scelidosaurus

Scelidosaurus Information

Scelidosaurus means “limb‑lizard,” and it was a dinosaur that lived about 195 million years ago during the Jurassic period. It’s very special because it’s the best‑preserved dinosaur ever found in Britain, most famously found in Charmouth!

Scelidosaurus was a plant‑eater with tough armour on its body, a bit like the later dinosaurs called ankylosaurs and stegosaurs. Scientists believe a whole group of them may have been swept out to sea and drowned long ago.
