We Are Weymouth is thrilled to announce the return of its acclaimed Dusk Til Dark series this September, with three days of light, sound and performance taking place across the town from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th September 2026.
The centrepiece of Dusk Til Dark 2026 is ‘Wave’, an internationally touring installation by artists Squidsoup, produced in partnership with Activate Performing Arts. Five hundred glowing orbs, suspended in the form of a breaking ocean wave, will hang over Westham Bridge illuminating from 6pm. Each orb contains its own LED lights, speaker and microcomputer – shifting in harmonies of light and sound to create an enveloping, calming experience. The 500 interconnected orbs use Internet of Things technology to make every walk-through unique.
As well as ‘Wave’, We Are Weymouth and its levy payers have joined together to create a flow of light and sound throughout the town. From art installations to laser shows, sound baths to illuminated window displays, this Dusk Til Dark promises to be a journey through Weymouth with light and sound throughout.

On Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September, the space beneath Wave will come alive with early evening yoga and drawing sessions. On Saturday evening, dance performers from Activate’s Dorset Youth Dance and The Remix groups will perform beneath the installation.
Dusk Til Dark extends across the town, with We Are Weymouth presenting a laser light show on The Esplanade, artwork by Coastland College displayed on the balcony of the New Vic Hotel, and a sound bath broadcast across the beach speakers.

Now in its fifth year, Dusk Til Dark has become a flagship moment in Weymouth’s cultural calendar. Previous events have brought large scale participatory light and sound performances to the town’s streets, harbour and beach – using public space in surprising ways and drawing visitors from across the region.
