Weymouth is once again hosting its Elf Extravaganza for the 2024 lights switch on!
With a main stage of entertainment throughout the afternoon, street performers and a host of shops and eateries all joining in the fun, it’s the perfect festive family day out.
What to expect
Streets filled with elf-themed festivities from hat-making and gingerbread decorating to Dorset's largest Elf Parade; when the streets are filled with the sound of elves singing throughout the streets, and who knows, maybe smashing a record whilst we're at it - so don your elf fancy dress and come along for the fun.
At 5pm the town’s Christmas lights will officially be switched on from the main stage in New Bond Street, and you can get into the festive spirit and experience Weymouth’s wide variety of pubs and clubs.
FREE PARKING
Parking in selected Dorset Council Car Parks will be on 30 November. Car parks are expected to be busier than usual, and we encourage to you walk, cycle or use public transport where possible
FREE Elf Workshops 10-4pm
🎁Throughout Town Centre.
Take part in letters to Santa, elf hat making, gingerbread decorating and bauble decorating workshops in various businesses around the town.

Street Entertainers 10-4pm
✨Throughout the Town Centre Watch on as street entertainers perform in various locations throughout the town centre. With the return of Stilt-walkers, musicians and more, enjoy a mulled wine or mincepie and enjoy all Weymouth has to offer.
Elf Parade 11:30am
🎅Dust off those tights, get out those elf hats and make sure your cheeks are rosy! We want to gather as many elves as possible in one place then parade through the town toward the Christmas tree in New Bond street ready for the entertainment, light switch on. Please try to gather before the parade commences at 11:30am (starting point outside the Range)
Stage Performers 12-6pm
🎄New Bond Street Enjoy entertainment from a number of local groups and bands performing for your enjoyment throughout the day and into the evening, including legendary local band 'The LEGGOMEN' .
Elf Hunt 9.30-4pm (pre-schoolers)
Try to find the naughty elves hiding from Santa in the Palm house. This is the perfect addition to your day for the under 5's, take a break and hear your kids squeal with excitement when they find them all.
Elf Hunt Sat/Sun
The mischievous elves are back at the Fort for another sneaky game of hide and seek! Can you help find them? Saturday 30th November & Sunday 1st December
Christmas Craft Fair 9.30-4pm, The Palm House
Arts, crafts, jewelery, gifts, fresh cakes and patries, jams and pickles, bags, melts , miniatures and much more! FREE event
Light Switch On 5pm
🌟Kick off your Christmas festivities right here in Weymouth. with the tree-lighting ceremony at 5pm, musicians spreading cheer, and children’s laughter echoing through the streets. It’s the kind of moment that warms your heart and reminds you why this season is so special.
Christmas Shopping 9-6pm
🛍️ Discover Unique Treasures: As you wander through Weymouth’s charming streets, stumble upon hidden gems in over 180 independent shops. Purchase a handcrafted ornament that catches the light or a quirky gift that’ll make your loved ones smile. Shopping local during Christmas—it’s like giving a little piece of Weymouth wrapped in paper and ribbon.
Christmas Bar 6-11pm, Sticks & Bones
Enjoyed the Light Switch on, and want to carry on partying? Then why not nip to Sticks 'n' Bones in Hope square for some Merry-Elf Fun, plus a best dressed Elf competition, Elf cocktails, face painting and Christmas themed bar.
Live Music 6-late
Visit some of our friendly cocktail bars, pubs and restaurants and enjoy the live bands and entertainment, whether in your ELF attire or not, there is always a friendly welcome in our town.
Adult's Elf Party 7pm-4am
A quick freshen up, a bite to eat, and then back out on the town as adults head to The Closet to continue the festivities. watch live performers and win a prize for the best dressed elf! (Maiden street)
Picklebottom the Elf Christmas Show Sunday 1st December only
Picklebottom the Elf will check if you’re on the naughty or nice list ready for Christmas Eve – a fun filled interactive family show with laughs, magic and mayhem. Tickets are free on Admission, but we are limited to 40 tickets per show.
Christmas Window displays
🌟 Festive Decorations Galore: Oh, the joy of twinkling lights, baubles, and garlands, windows tempting you in with Christmas goodies inside. Maybe you’ll find that perfect window display to inspire you with that touch of glitter, a string of fairy lights and wrapped presents transforming Weymouth into a magical window wonderland.
Don't forget to vote for the window which brings you the most joy this Christmas. The winning business will receive a PR package and as YOU voted you will be entered into a draw for a wonderful hamper of chocolates, tickets and more.
