Part of the Sauropod family, the Brachiosaurus was truly one of the giants of the prehistoric world, embodying the grandeur and wonder of the age of dinosaurs.
This magnificent herbivore roamed the Earth approximately 150 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period. The mighty muncher was known for its long, giraffe-like neck that allowed it to reach the tops of tall plants and trees for food. Not only was it one of the largest Dinosaurs, but experts also believe a fully grown adult could weigh more than 28 tons! That’s roughly equivalent to the weight of four fully-grown African elephants. Did you know you can see real Sauropod footprints in Dorset?
