Chief Operations Officer for We Are Weymouth, Dawn Rondeau comments: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to be main sponsor for the Weymouth Beach Classic again this year. The event itself is a magnificent showcase and promotion for Weymouth and encourages visitors and participants to stay and enjoy all that Weymouth has to offer. We are also very excited that a whole host of other volleyball activities are scheduled starting from as early as May right through until the Classic in August, giving people yet another reason to visit the town. ‘We Are Active’ is our Summer campaign and therefore it seems fitting to sponsor the Volleyball; an activity and sport that brings back the vitality and fun Weymouth is renowned for, whilst embracing the warm welcome and professionalism of this unique championship.”
Directors of Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic Graeme Sawyer and Peter Bennett said, “We are very proud to be in our third decade for hosting the country’s favourite Beach Volleyball Championships in Weymouth. Following last year’s successful partnership with We Are Weymouth we are absolutely over the moon to be in partnership with the organisation once again, combined with Weymouth Town Council as Venue sponsor. We also have a fabulous team of volunteers and are confident in making this year’s event one of the biggest in its illustrious history.”
Cllr Colin Huckle, Mayor of Weymouth, said: “Our award-winning beach in Weymouth has a proud history of hosting and embracing major outdoor sporting events and festivals. And this year we are absolutely delighted to team up with event sponsors We Are Weymouth and the fabulous volunteers from Weymouth Volleyball Club to host the Volleyball Classic event in July.
“It takes place during Weymouth Town Council’s own Beach Sports and Community Festival, which encourages people to try different activities in taster sessions, including volleyball. These ace events will be major highlights of the summer season in Weymouth, and I hope as many people as possible will be able to participate or join us as spectators this year.”
