This September, Weymouth will once again be the stage for one of the most anticipated events in the town’s cultural calendar – Dusk Til Dark. Now in its fourth year, the 2025 edition promises to be the most ambitious yet, bringing together international artists, local performers, and hundreds of hand-crafted silk pennants in a large-scale outdoor dance experience titled Sonnet of Samsara.
What to Expect
On the evenings of 19th and 20th September, Weymouth’s harbour, town centre and beach will be transformed as dusk falls. Expect live soundscapes from boom bikes, striking movement sequences blending contemporary dance and martial arts, and over 60 performers animating the streets and shoreline.
As part of the nationwide Beach of Dreams project, Sonnet of Samsara is choreographed by Charlene Low and created by Jayachandran Palazhy (Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, India) in collaboration with UK arts charity Kinetika. This powerful piece explores themes of transformation, unity, and the passage of time told through movement, light, and community connection.
A Celebration of Community and Culture
Dusk Til Dark is more than a performance. It’s a statement about art in public spaces: free, open to all, and set to the backdrop of our beautiful town. The event will feature a mix of professional dancers and local participants, giving the community a chance to be part of something extraordinary.
Don’t Miss It
This is a free event, open to all ages – no tickets required. Just head into town as the sun sets and prepare to see Weymouth in a new light.
