VJ Day Memorial Service

Portland
to mark VJ Day with memorial service

A
memorial service will be held on Saturday 15 August 2026 to commemorate Victory
over Japan (VJ) Day, marking the anniversary of the end of the Second World
War.

The
service will take place at All Saints Church, Portland, beginning at 4pm.

It
will be conducted by the Reverend Michael Lee and led by the Mayor of Portland,
Councillor Pete Roper.

Members
of the public are warmly invited to attend, with an opportunity to lay wreaths
during the service. An Order of Service will be available on the day.

The commemorative event
will provide an opportunity for the community to come together to remember
those who served and sacrificed during the Second World War, and to reflect on
the significance of VJ
