— Weymouth business community “overwhelmingly votes yes” for 3rd BID term —

We Are Weymouth (BID) is delighted to announce that Weymouth levy payers have overwhelmingly voted YES in today’s ballot.  With a 71% positive vote, We Are Weymouth (BID) is set to be in place for the next 5 years, continuing its vital work to improve, market and shape the town of Weymouth.

Chris Truscott, Chairman of We Are Weymouth (BID) comments: “We are incredibly proud to announce today that We Are Weymouth (BID) has been overwhelmingly voted in for another term by businesses within the levy area of Weymouth. The BID’s sole purpose is to support the business district within Weymouth, and we’re privileged to have the opportunity to continue doing this.  I’d like to say thank you to Dawn Rondeau our Chief Operations officer and Kelly Davies for all their hard work in securing the next term and are grateful to the business community for valuing the work we undertake making Weymouth the incredible town that it is.”

We Are Weymouth (BID) has 3 core areas to focus on when it comes to Weymouth’s business district:

  1. Improve Weymouth – Driving Standards to improve the public realm and enhance the look, feel and safety of the town through schemes such as shop wrapping, hanging baskets, bunting and Rangers.
  2. Marketing Weymouth – promoting Weymouth through campaigns and PR, financially supporting events and developing initiatives to increase footfall and spend throughout the town particularly ‘out-of-season’.
  3. Shaping Weymouth – providing a strong, unified voice, championing the interests of businesses in key decisions for the town

From introducing the BID Rangers to help tackle retail crime in the town centre, to sponsoring incredible artistic performances during the Inside Out festival, Pirate Parlay and Elf World Record attempt as well as gaining recognition through the Dorset Tourism Awards for the town’s events, the team at We Are Weymouth has worked tirelessly to put Weymouth on the map.

Dawn Rondeau, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth (BID) comments: “I’m overjoyed that the businesses in Weymouth have once again voted to invest in their town. The overwhelming success of We Are Weymouth (BID) all comes down to the businesses working with us on initiatives and we’re so happy to see such positive engagement from the town.  With over 4 years confirmed for the next term we’re excited to have even greater impact in making Weymouth a year-round destination for everyone. Winning the next BID term gives us the time to work harder on improving the overall look and feel of the town, and to continue being the voice of our business community when it comes to working with government bodies.  I can’t thank everyone enough, who voted for us, we’re honoured to be continuing.”

The message from We Are Weymouth (BID) is clear – onwards and upwards.  Businesses can expect to see more events, more improvements to the town, and more lobbying on their behalf.
