The 2024 Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic is set to return, promising another year of thrilling action and competitive spirit on one of the UK’s most iconic beaches. The event, scheduled from July 25th to July 28th, almost faced cancellation after Weymouth Town Council withdrew its funding. However, thanks to the combined efforts of sponsors including We Are Weymouth (BID), Nantes Solicitors, Ultra Maritime, and the Mervyn Stewkesbury Foundation Trust, this prestigious event, often referred to as the “Wimbledon of Beach Volleyball,” will continue.
This year’s event will feature some of the country’s top volleyball talent, with a long waiting list just to enter the qualifying rounds. The tournament kicks off with the traditional Nantes Charity Event on Thursday, followed by the main competition starting Saturday morning. Finals day on Sunday promises high-energy action with quarterfinals leading up to the much-anticipated women’s and men’s finals.
Dawn Rondeau-Irvine, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth, expressed excitement about supporting the event, noting, “Not only does this event showcase Weymouth’s award-winning beach, but it also attracts visitors who explore everything our town has to offer.”
With strong community backing and growing popularity, the Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic continues to be a highlight of the summer season, bringing together sports enthusiasts and showcasing Weymouth as a prime destination for both tourism and sport.
